Talking about Rivers and Cities, Brazilian architect Carolina Nunes is one of the eleven speakers selected for TEDxFreiburg, event that will take place at Konzerthaus Freiburg on December 2nd.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carolina Nunes is German Chancellor Fellow, supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. She develops a project about Rivers and Cities at the Technical University of Munich. She is investigating the integration of nature and public spaces in cities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The city that hosts her talk couldn’t be more appropriate. Freiburg is regarded as one of the birthplaces of the environmental movement. With a population estimated at 226 thousand citizens, the city is located in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg state, and one of the symbols of the fight against nuclear power plants over the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 1970s, the people of Freiburg lead a successful action against the Wyhl nuclear power plant, one of the founding moments of the alternative-green movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

TEDxFreiburg is a locally and independently organized event under a TED license in the green city Freiburg. Meaning Technology, Entertainment and Design, TED is devoted to ideas worth spreading from every discipline. Started 33 years ago with a conference in California, TED organization since then has grown to support ideas that change the world through multiple initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n
