With weekly episodes on the Legislative TV Channel, the series Urbanism explores innovative urban planning solutions inspired by experiences from Germany and other European cities, connecting international ideas to the realities and challenges of urban life in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Each short episode, lasting 2 to 3 minutes, invites viewers to reflect on topics like historic preservation, sustainable mobility, public space revitalization, city-river integration, local culture, human-centered urbanism, and a more balanced relationship with the environment.
Designed for both the general public and policymakers, the series aims to broaden the local urban conversation by showcasing practical ideas, cultural insights, and solutions that can inspire real change in our cities.
Check out the episode on the Isar Floßfahrt, a cultural and tourist raft ride along the Isar River in Munich, Germany:
In the 12th century, when Munich was founded, transporting wood and goods downstream was essential. With the advent of modern roads, the practice faded. But in the early 20th century, the tradition was revived — this time, with people as the “cargo.” From May to September, it’s rafting season on the Isar, featuring live music, lots of beer, and plenty of fun!
